Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager - Data Engineering to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale data projects. The candidate should have strong data engineering fundamentals, hands-on understanding of modern data platforms, and demonstrated experience managing teams through complete project lifecycles.

The ideal candidate will combine technical leadership, project delivery, stakeholder management, and team leadership to ensure successful execution of complex data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of data engineering projects, from requirements and architecture through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Provide technical direction to data engineering teams and ensure adherence to architecture, development, and engineering best practices.
• Work closely with architects, business stakeholders, product owners, and client teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Manage project execution, including planning, estimation, resource allocation, dependencies, risks, and delivery commitments.
• Review solution designs, data models, data pipelines, and technical implementation approaches.
• Drive engineering quality through design reviews, code reviews, testing standards, performance optimization, and release processes.
• Identify and proactively manage technical and delivery risks.
• Mentor engineers and technical leads and support their technical and professional development.
• Communicate project status, technical decisions, risks, and dependencies effectively to both technical and business stakeholders.
• Support production readiness, deployment, operational handover, and post-production stabilization.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10-15 years of overall IT experience, with significant experience in Data Engineering and Data Platforms.
• Experience delivering at least two end-to-end enterprise data projects.
• Strong experience with at least one modern data platform:
  • Snowflake
  • Microsoft Fabric
  • Databricks
• Working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform:
  • AWS
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Strong understanding of databases, data warehousing, data modeling, ETL/ELT, and data integration concepts.
• Strong SQL knowledge, including complex queries, performance considerations, and data validation.
• Understanding of batch and/or real-time data processing patterns.
• Experience leading and managing data engineering teams.
• Ability to estimate, plan, track, and manage technical deliverables.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with client stakeholders and technical teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with large-scale data modernization or cloud migration programs.
• Experience in using GenAI in a Data Project
• Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices for data engineering.
• Knowledge of data quality, governance, security, and observability concepts.
• Experience working with geographically distributed/onshore-offshore teams.
• Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies.
