Engineering Manager

Intact, the world's leading software solutions provider for the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) industry, is looking for Engineering Managers , each leading one of our cross-functional product squads, to help transform how we build software.

For more than 25 years, our software has helped certification bodies, accreditation bodies, and scheme owners digitize complex assurance processes. Now we're building a modern, domain-driven software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform and transforming how our engineering organization works.

As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead a cross-functional squad of up to seven Product Engineers, Frontend Engineers, and Quality Engineers. You'll act as a playing captain, coach, and enabler, combining dedicated people leadership with strong technical expertise. You'll help engineers evolve from implementing requirements to proactively shaping products and solving customer problems.

ARE YOU READY?

• Stay technically engaged as a sparring partner and coach, while empowering engineers to make their own decisions
• Own team performance: develop people, set clear expectations, give honest feedback and support hiring and upskilling
• Grow product thinking and domain knowledge so engineers challenge requirements and shape solutions with Product Management and UX
• Enable squads to design, build, deploy, monitor, and operate reliable domain services end to end
• Champion domain-driven design (DDD) with deep domain understanding, clear bounded contexts, and loosely coupled architectures
• Lead the adoption of AI-assisted workflows across the software development lifecycle

ARE YOU THE ONE?

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager leading and developing cross-functional engineering teams, ideally in a SaaS product environment
• Strong technical background in modern distributed architectures, DDD, APIs, CI/CD, automated testing, and production operations
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software engineering and a track record of improving team effectiveness through its adoption
• Strong product mindset and experience shaping solutions with Product Management and UX beyond predefined requirements
• Coaching-oriented leadership style and the ability to build autonomous, high-performing teams
• Excellent communication skills
• Fluent in English; German is a plus
• Nice to have: Experience with C#/.NET, React, and PostgreSQL

• Competitive salary: in Austria due to legal requirements from € 76,216 gross per year (full-time), with overpayment based on qualifications and experience; for other locations, in line with local market conditions
