Engineering Manager, Data Platform

For our client, we are seeking a Engineering Manager, Data Platform to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.

This role will lead a backend engineering team focused on the systems and services that power the data platform, with an emphasis on reliability, resilience, and scalable execution. You will partner closely with Product Management and leadership to turn business goals into clear engineering plans and roadmaps. The position also plays a key cross-functional communication role, helping ensure strong operational performance and alignment across partner teams.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $163,000 – $224,070 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of backend engineers, with a strong focus on coaching and career growth
• Own the delivery and resilience of production systems supporting the data platform
• Collaborate with Product Management to align on engineering roadmaps
• Serve as the primary communicator for the data platform with leadership and partner teams
• Drive operational excellence in reliability, observability, and incident response
• Foster team norms that enhance collaboration and engineer engagement
• Participate in hiring to expand and strengthen the engineering team

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a management role
• Experience with high-throughput, reliability-critical production systems
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems and technical judgment
• Ability to translate business goals into engineering plans
• Proven track record in coaching and developing engineers
• Strong communication skills in remote work settings
• Familiarity with observability practices and incident response processes
