Engineering Manager, Digital & Mixed-Signal Hardware
📍
Austin, TX or Westminster, CO | On-site
We’re looking for a
highly technical Engineering Manager
to lead and develop a team working on advanced
digital and mixed-signal hardware
for next-generation aerospace and defense systems.
This is a
player-coach leadership role
— ideal for a Senior, Staff, or Principal Electrical/Hardware Engineer who is already leading technically and is ready to take the next step into formal people management.
What You’ll Do
🔹 Lead the technical development of high-speed digital and mixed-signal hardware across multiple product lines
🔹 Drive architecture, schematic, PCB, design and technical reviews
🔹 Maintain engineering standards for high-speed interfaces, signal integrity, timing, and dense multilayer PCBs
🔹 Stay hands-on with critical designs, complex debug, board bring-up, and technical problem solving
🔹 Work across
digital, RF, power, FPGA, firmware, software, mechanical, and systems engineering
🔹 Drive DFM/DFT, manufacturing transition, reliability, and production readiness
🔹 Establish scalable hardware development processes and design standards
🔹 Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing hardware engineering team
🔹 Lead hiring, performance development, technical mentoring, and team growth
🔹 Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Operations, and Systems Engineering
What We’re Looking For
We’re particularly interested in engineers with:
✅
7+ years of direct digital or mixed-signal hardware experience
✅ Strong hands-on
schematic and PCB design
experience
✅ High-speed digital / mixed-signal board design
✅ FPGA or processor-based hardware experience
✅ Experience with
DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, SERDES
, or comparable interfaces
✅ Strong signal integrity and timing knowledge
✅ Board bring-up and complex hardware debugging experience
✅ Dense, multilayer PCB experience
✅ DFM / DFT and production-transition experience
✅ Experience leading technical reviews and mentoring engineers
✅ Excellent cross-functional communication skills
Software-defined radio experience is a plus.
Aerospace/space experience is valuable, but the role is also open to engineers from other high-reliability electronics environments.
The Ideal Profile
You may currently be a:

Senior Electrical Engineer

Staff Electrical Engineer

Principal Electrical Engineer

Senior/Staff/Principal Hardware Engineer

Digital Hardware Lead

Electronics Lead

Hardware Technical Lead

You’re someone who is already
acting like a technical leader
— driving design reviews, mentoring engineers, setting standards, solving difficult board-level problems — and now wants to formally lead and develop a team.
You should still be comfortable getting into a schematic, reviewing PCB layout, tackling an SI issue, or debugging hardware yourself.
Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to move from
personally designing complex hardware to building the team that designs it
— without stepping away from the technology.
If you’re passionate about great hardware, enjoy developing engineers, and want to have a broader impact on how advanced electronics are designed and delivered, we’d love to hear from you.
