Engineering Manager - Music

For our client, we are seeking a Engineering Manager - Music to join the team of a leader in the Media space.

This role will lead a software engineering team responsible for delivering high-impact initiatives across a music-focused consumer experience. You will partner closely with Product and Design to shape priorities, translate product needs into engineering execution, and ensure the team is set up to deliver reliably and at pace. The position combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, architectural guidance, and cross-functional alignment in a fast-moving media environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $164,448 – $234,926 annually

Responsibilities

• Foster strong relationships among engineers and cross-functional teams
• Lead and develop a high-performing team, setting clear expectations and creating growth opportunities
• Encourage technical discussions and challenge architectural assumptions
• Collaborate with Product and Design to define priorities and product direction
• Oversee project delivery, including capacity management and execution of initiatives
• Manage dependencies and alignment with partner teams
• Act as a player-coach, contributing hands-on when necessary
• Identify AI opportunities to improve engineering workflows

Qualifications

• Experience managing software engineering teams with technical individual contributors (ICs)
• Strong people management skills, including providing feedback and navigating team dynamics
• Background in backend or full-stack engineering with architecture and technical design knowledge
• Product mindset with the ability to challenge product requirements and find engineering solutions
• Ability to balance engineer empowerment with effective leadership
