Engineering Manager, Notifications Platform

For our client, we are seeking a Engineering Manager, Notifications Platform to join the team of a leader in the Media space.

This role will lead the technical direction, architecture, and operations for a large-scale notifications platform that supports timely, reliable user communication. You will partner closely with product, engineering, and ML teams to define platform contracts, improve service performance, and strengthen operational excellence. The position also calls for building a collaborative team environment while supporting engineers in their growth and development.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $217,000 – $303,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and operations of the notifications platform
• Set technical direction for platform capabilities and API development
• Collaborate with ML teams to enhance notification systems
• Partner with product and engineering teams to clarify platform contracts
• Drive the full development lifecycle of services
• Establish practices for reliability and operational excellence
• Build and maintain a diverse, collaborative team
• Communicate team objectives and progress to stakeholders
• Assist engineers with career development plans

Qualifications

• 2+ years managing engineering teams
• 5+ years as a Software Engineer or Engineering Manager in distributed systems
• Deep knowledge of service-oriented architectures and event-driven systems
• Hands-on experience with low-latency, highly available services
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and observability tools
• Proficient in setting technical direction for platform teams
• Strong communication skills for diverse audiences
• Ability to navigate ambiguous problems
