Working closely with the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Operations Manager serves as a senior technical and operational leader responsible for troubleshooting complex facility issues, managing maintenance personnel, overseeing vendor performance, and ensuring that both the built environment and exterior grounds are maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, efficiency, and appearance. This role is expected to independently resolve operational challenges and proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement throughout the property.

Engineering & Facilities Operations:

  • Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of all facility systems and equipment.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, life safety, and utility systems.
  • Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize system reliability and asset life.
  • Respond to emergency situations and critical equipment failures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Grounds & Exterior Property Oversight:

  • Provide direct oversight of all contracted grounds, landscaping, irrigation, arbor care, and exterior maintenance services.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Director of Engineering and grounds maintenance contractors.
  • Conduct regular inspections of landscaped areas, parking lots, pathways, roadways, irrigation systems, drainage infrastructure, and exterior property assets.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure services meet established quality, safety, and appearance standards.
  • Coordinate seasonal landscape enhancements, irrigation improvements, and exterior beautification projects.
  • Review contractor scopes of work, service agreements, project proposals, and invoices.
  • Ensure the property's exterior environment consistently reflects organizational standards and expectations.

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Supervise engineering and maintenance personnel.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, and operational excellence.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff.

Capital Projects & Asset Management:

  • Assist with planning and execution of capital improvement projects.
  • Coordinate contractors, vendors, and consultants.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Support long-term facility and infrastructure planning.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in engineering, facilities management, or maintenance operations.
  • 3+ years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building automation systems, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex facility systems.
  • Experience managing contractors and vendor relationships.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Professional certifications related to facilities or engineering management.
  • Experience in hospitality, resort, club, healthcare, educational campus, or large commercial properties.

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $115,000. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. This position also may be eligible for bonuses. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel experience, location, and education.
