Engineering Supervisor

About the role

Lourdes Hospital is seeking an experienced Engineering Supervisor to join our facilities and engineering team in Manila City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in maintaining the operational integrity and safety of our hospital's infrastructure and mechanical systems. As Engineering Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of our engineering department, ensuring all building systems, equipment and facilities are maintained to the highest standards to support the delivery of excellent patient care. This position reports to the Engineering Manager and is essential to our commitment to maintaining a safe, compliant and efficient healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the work of engineering and maintenance technicians, ensuring efficient completion of maintenance and repair tasks
• Monitor and maintain all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and emergency backup systems to ensure continuous operation
• Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance schedules on all hospital equipment and facilities to prevent breakdowns and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues and coordinate rapid response to ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, repairs and inspections
• Ensure all engineering work complies with local building codes, safety standards and healthcare facility requirements
• Manage the engineering department budget, track maintenance costs and identify opportunities for cost efficiency and operational improvements
• Train, mentor and supervise engineering and maintenance staff, promoting a culture of safety and professional development
• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialised maintenance and repair work as needed
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs as required, including troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent technical qualification

• Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in engineering maintenance and operations

• Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, generators and emergency power systems

• Experience in healthcare facility maintenance is highly preferred, or experience in large commercial or institutional buildings

• Valid professional engineering license or certification is preferred

• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues

• Knowledge of safety standards, building codes and healthcare facility regulations

• Strong communication skills
