Engineering Support Head

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Support Head to lead the technical execution arm of our shipmanagement engineering function. In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee specialized field technical teams—including hydraulic technicians, machinists, electricians, and welders—providing direct repair, fabrication, and troubleshooting support to our fleet. Acting as the rapid-response execution partner to Technical Superintendents, you will ensure that equipment breakdowns, defects, and maintenance requirements are resolved quickly, safely, and effectively to minimize vessel downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, deploy, and supervise specialized technical teams (hydraulic technicians, machinists, electricians, welders) to handle onboard repairs, breakdowns, and fabrication tasks efficiently
• Assist in root-cause diagnosis of complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical failures
• Ensure first-time repair completion and verify workmanship quality before vessel turnover
• Assign tasks based on expertise, manage team productivity, organize tools/parts with Procurement, and drive continuous capability development and multi-skilling
• Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, Permit-to-Work systems, hazard controls, and proper PPE usage during all field interventions
• Maintain close alignment with Technical Superintendents, vessel operations, and port teams to align repair schedules with vessel movements and deployment priorities

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 7–10 years of hands-on experience in marine or heavy equipment engineering (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, fabrication)
• Minimum of 3–5 years in a supervisory or technical leadership role in field operations
• Licensed Engineer preferred (not mandatory if supported by exceptional technical field experience)
• Safety Certifications (BOSH/COSH preferred)
• TESDA or equivalent technical certifications in welding, hydraulics, or electrical work are an advantage
• Documented training in Advanced Technical Troubleshooting, Root Cause Analysis, Safety Management (Permit-to-Work systems), and Leadership/Project Management
• High decision-making ability under pressure; strong hands-on technical diagnostic capability; proven ability to lead multi-skilled field teams and balance repair speed with safety and quality standards
