Engineering Support Technician

Position Description:

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Provides technical support to engineers to achieve improvements in cycle-time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety and

compliance of production and operations processes and products.

• Monitors instruments and equipment and collects operating data, including calibration, inspection, testing and repair

activities, to assist in making on-line adjustments to instruments, equipment, or products.

• Analyzes and resolves malfunctions and deviations of instruments and control systems to identify and resolve problems.

• Conducts, analyses and prepares reports using metrics from salvage tracking, trending, reporting and root-cause analyses.

• Maintains process designs to optimize process, equipment and facility use while conforming to standard operating

procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

TECHNICIAN SUPPORT CAREER STREAM: Provides technical support in areas such as production, operations, maintenance,

safety, testing, process improvement or product development. Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or

defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems. Gathers,

maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures, and performs detailed

mathematical calculations. For higher levels, may suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes.

Autonomy: Entry-level position typically requiring little to no prior experience in technical aspects of a job. Work is clearly defined,

routine or follows standard procedures and is closely supervised. Performs basic tests and records data.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires basic knowledge of systems, techniques, tools and procedures typically obtained

through prior related work experience, training, and/or education. 0 years of relevant technical experience required. No minimum

education requirement. Some countries/ jobs may require vocational training and/or certification.

Required Skills/Experience

• 1-2 years of experience providing technical support in manufacturing or production environments, with a focus on improving cycle time, yield, cost, quality, safety, and process compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze equipment malfunctions, process deviations, and technical issues and identify effective corrective actions.
• Ability to work effectively with engineers, production personnel, and cross-functional teams to support continuous process improvement.
• Knowledge of process optimization, equipment and facility utilization, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
