Hours: Full time / 36.25 hours per week

Salary: £25,515 - £26,155

Pension contribution: 15%

Location: Stretford campus with the requirement to travel to other campuses when required

Trafford College is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Engineering Technician to support our thriving Engineering department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in creating an outstanding learning environment, helping students develop the practical skills and industry knowledge needed for successful careers in engineering.

Working closely with lecturers and curriculum staff, you will be responsible for maintaining engineering workshops, equipment and learning resources, ensuring that our facilities remain safe, well organised and industry relevant.

About The Role:

As an Engineering Technician, you will:

• Prepare workshops, machinery, tools and materials for practical lessons and assessments.
• Maintain and support a range of engineering equipment, including CNC machinery, lathes, milling machines, fabrication equipment and electrical training rigs.
• Assist teaching staff and support learners during practical sessions.
• Promote and monitor safe working practices across engineering workshops.
• Carry out equipment inspections, routine maintenance and basic repairs.
• Manage stock, consumables and workshop resources effectively.
• Maintain technical records, inventories and maintenance logs.
• Support continuous improvement projects and the installation of new equipment.

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

Essential

• A Level 3 qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Industrial experience in mechanical, manufacturing, fabrication, electrical or maintenance engineering.
• Experience working with engineering tools, machinery and workshop equipment.
• Strong knowledge of engineering health and safety requirements.
• Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Good IT and record-keeping abilities.

Desirable

• An engineering apprenticeship.
• A teaching assistant, assessor or health and safety qualification.
• Experience supporting learners in an educational environment.
• A First Aid qualification.
