Engineering Technician

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Engineering Technician for the Research and Development department. This person would support first article inspections, prototype builds, and product testing, and own R&D inventory and project materials. The role combines mechanical build and inspection work with documentation and reporting, handling execution and organization so engineering can stay focused on design.

Duties

• Receive, log, and stage first article parts and prepare them for inspection
• Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, and height gages
• Generate and maintain FAIR documentation under engineering direction
• Build and modify prototype assemblies from drawings
• Set up and support functional and endurance testing, including fixture setup
• Write organized test reports and maintain digital records
• Track parts used in testing and ensure proper disposition
• Stage materials and assemble mockups and development builds
• Fabricate simple brackets and support components as needed
• Keep prototype and test areas clean and organized
• Basic CAD model and drawing edits under engineering direction (SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor)
• Assist with red-line markups, revision documentation, and project file organization
• Own and maintain the R&D inventory location
• Maintain organized shelving, bins, and pallet areas, including controlled sample stock
• Ensure proper disposition of material based on revisions, releases, or obsolescence, and remove obsolete or excess stock

Experience

• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on build skills
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, dimensions, and tolerances
• Comfortable using calipers, micrometers, and height gages
• Organized and detail-oriented, with the discipline to keep accurate records
• Proficient with Excel, Word, and PDF for documentation and reporting
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Preferred: associate degree or technical certificate in a mechanical or engineering technology discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience; background in production assembly, testing, quality, or inspection; some CAD experience in SolidWorks or Inventor, or a clear willingness to learn.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
