Job Description:

Performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently.

This technician performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as:

a. Constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions;

b. Following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.

c. Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data;

d. Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation.

e. Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.

The contractor shall provide engineering support for mixing, casting, curing and assembly of weapons.

• Perform weapon assembly of various weapon systems utilizing Weapon Assembly Manuals (WAM).

• analyze technical drawings and specifications sheets in relation to the Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) of current and future weapons of the Department of the Navy and foreign partners.

• Work directly with the Research Development Test & Evaluate (RDT&E) Weapon and Energetics Department preparing test items and assembling test items for subsequent range or customer specific testing requirements.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

Due to customer requirements, U.S Citizenship is required.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoW Security Clearance for duration of employment.

Adequate experience performing the duties of the labor category as described in the Department of Labor functional description. At least three (3) years of practical experience, to include laboratory testing, manufacturing, or maintenance. Experience may include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems.

Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as:

Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes.

Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.

Engineering technicians may be certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, an organization sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers. Certification by the Institute will be helpful as a measure of the technician's quality of experience.

Salary: the expected pay range for this position is $49,296 to $83,200 but is subject to change.
