Engineering Toolmaker

TITLE: Toolmaker

Responsible To: Toolroom Manager

To provide tools and equipment to specification and schedule at minimum cost.

Working 38 hours per week on standard day working pattern Monday to Friday. Overtime, if available, is paid at 1½x Monday to Saturday and 2x on Sundays

Ideally candidates should be qualified to a Level 3 in toolmaking, have served a formal apprenticeship and be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Take out and regrind press tools, make machine spares, use wire eroders and spark eroders
• Operate milling and grinding equipment and undertake improvement activity, designing and manufacturing components
• Deliver improvements to machines and help with preventative maintenance
• Interpret detailed engineering drawings, working to high tolerances
• Manufacture production spares using a range of machinery including – Manual miller, lathe, surface grinder, EDM die sinking machine, wire eroder, CNC miller
• Accurately use measuring equipment to ensure all manufactured parts are within tolerance
• Repair, maintain and improve press and mould tools
• Undertake efficiency improvement in various processes

Ideally candidates should have:

• excellent team work skills and self-motivation
• experience of operating in a busy manufacturing environment
• good problem solving skills and the ability to analyse machine performance, identify and correct faults quickly and accurately

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to £38,000.00 per year
