Engineer/Senior Engineer

Role Purpose

Responsible for the mechanical design and development of components, sub-assemblies and systems from concept through Start of Production (SOP), supporting the organizations shift towards high-value assemblies and systems with increased design ownership. The role delivers robust, manufacturable and cost-effective designs, contributes to innovation and intellectual property creation, and supports customer technical engagements and co-development programs.

Key Responsibilities

Product Design & Development

o Execute mechanical design of components, sub-assemblies and systems from concept to SOP

o Develop 3D CAD models, 2D manufacturing drawings with GD&T, and engineering BOMs

o Perform design calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, and material selection

o Conduct DFMEA, support DVP&R execution, prototype builds and design validation

o Apply DFM/DFA principles for forging, die-casting and precision machining processes

o Ensure designs meet quality, cost, weight and timeline targets

o Support value engineering (VAVE) and platform-based design initiatives

Innovation & Intellectual Property

o Contribute to concept generation and innovation projects aligned to business strategy

o Document novel design solutions to support patents and design registrations

o Benchmark competitor products and track emerging technologies and materials

Customer & Supplier Engagement

o Support technical discussions and design reviews with OEMs and key customers

o Contribute design inputs to RFQ feasibility studies and concept proposals

o Coordinate with suppliers and engineering service providers on design deliverables

Cross-Functional Collaboration

o Work closely with Business Development, Strategy, Manufacturing, Sourcing and Program Management

o Support seamless design-to-production handover, including ECN/ECR management

o Practice concurrent engineering with plant and process engineering teams

o Maintain engineering documentation, design standards and lessons-learnt records
