English Language Arts and Math Tutor

ML Tutoring is hiring 1–2 Virtual Tutors to support students enrolled in our partner schools for the 2026–2027 school year.

Position Details

• Independent Contractor position
• Commitment of at least 5 hours per week (up to 20 hours per week).
• Flexible scheduling based on your availability
• Sessions are typically scheduled Monday–Friday between 8:00 AM–5:00 PM PST
• Contract runs through June 11, 2027, with the possibility of renewal for the following school year
• Tutors must be able to commit to working with assigned students for the full school year
• California residency is required due to the background check and compliance requirements for our school partnerships

Subjects & Grade Levels

• Primarily support English Language Arts (ELA) and Math
• Students range from Kindergarten - 12th grade
• Tutors are not required to be comfortable teaching all grade levels
• ML Tutoring is hiring multiple tutors and will match students based on the tutor’s experience, subject expertise, and availability

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized virtual tutoring sessions via Zoom
• Support students with academic skill development, coursework, and subject-specific learning goals
• Use Zoom’s screen-sharing and other interactive features effectively during sessions
• Maintain accurate attendance and student progress notes
• Complete required administrative tasks through ML Tutoring’s online portal
• Communicate professionally and consistently with ML Tutoring and school personnel as needed
• Maintain organized records and timely documentation
• Complete CA Mandated Reporter Training

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
• Previous experience teaching or tutoring virtually via Zoom
• Comfortable using Zoom screen sharing and other virtual teaching tools
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Reliable and able to maintain a consistent schedule throughout the school year
• Strong knowledge and experience in ELA, Math, or both
• Ability to work independently while following ML Tutoring’s administrative and communication procedures
• Must reside in California and be able to complete the required background check process
• Teaching certification preferred, but no required.

Compensation

$40-50 per hour based on education and experience

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5.0 – 20.0 per week
