English Lead

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and accomplished English specialist looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people at a SEN school in Stockport. The school is a specialist independent school for children and young people in a secondary setting, many of whom have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs, including ADHD. It is an exciting time to join with the expansion of a SEN pathway designed to support pupils back into education who have emotionally based school non-attendance.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons that challenge pupils and support their learning.
• Promote a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages pupils’ educational, social, and personal development.
• Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing constructive feedback and tailored support to help them achieve their learning goals.
• Support pupils with ASC, ADHD, and a range of additional learning needs, adapting teaching approaches to meet individual needs and maximise their potential.
• Establish and maintain a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment where all pupils feel valued, supported, and able to succeed.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Required Skills

• Have experience teaching English across KS2 and KS3.
• Experience of working with children with ASC, and SEN.
• A strong understanding of the National Curriculum and effective teaching strategies.

Preferred Skills

• Experience of teaching English at KS4 and delivering Entry Level and Functional Skills qualifications is desirable.
• A qualification in SEND education is desirable.
