English Specialist Tutor

GCSE | Home-Educated Learners | 1:1 and Small Groups | Online and In-Person

At Restart Tuition, we believe confidence comes before progress. We’re looking for warm, reflective, and committed Specialist Tutors who share that vision and want to be part of a values-led team delivering high-quality tuition across Somerset and online.

This role can be completed alongside full-time work. Our provision takes place during the day (home-educated learners, EOTAS) and after school/evenings (GCSE learners, KS3 Learners), with opportunities available based on demand.

The role

You’ll work with a mix of learners including:

• GCSE students preparing for exams (KS3–KS4)
• Home-educated learners during the daytime
• Students rebuilding confidence after negative experiences in school

Tuition is delivered either one-to-one or in small groups, online and/or in-person depending on learner needs.

You’ll deliver engaging, student-centred sessions that go beyond the textbook, helping learners build clarity, skill, and self-belief.

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking tutors who are:

• Confident teaching KS3 and GCSE in their subject (A level is desirable)
• Skilled at explaining clearly and adapting to the learner
• Warm, calm, and professional especially with anxious learners
• Reliable and consistent in their commitments
• Comfortable working independently while aligning with team standards

Essential requirements

• Teaching/tutoring experience (school, tuition, or both)
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to gain one at cost)
• Strong communication and organisation
• Commitment to safeguarding and professional conduct
