Lead Enterprise Healthcare Architect

Job Description

Blackbuck Insights, LLC | Remote / Hybrid

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Lead Enterprise Healthcare Architect to drive technology strategy and innovation. This pivotal role designs, develops, and optimizes enterprise architecture strategies, with a deep focus on industry-leading technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), API management, integration architecture, and security architecture.

The successful candidate will translate strategic intent into actionable architectural roadmaps, proactively reduce technical debt, and champion application rationalization initiatives to deliver scalable, cost-effective, and resilient solutions. This individual will define and drive AI solution strategies and collaborate extensively with other architects to ensure cohesive designs that align with strategic objectives and enable seamless execution.

This role requires extensive healthcare payer industry experience, a strong understanding of emerging technologies, and the ability to provide strategic consultation and mentorship. The Lead Enterprise Architect will leverage business and technology insights to enable or transform critical business processes, practices, organizational capabilities, and systems in support of the long-term strategic vision.

Primary Responsibilities

Enterprise Strategy & Business Architecture

  • Provide strategic consultation to business stakeholders in defining and designing business processes, functions, and organizational structures. Research, identify, and internally champion enabling technologies based on customer capability requirements.

  • Facilitate development of highly complex enterprise business solutions by combining knowledge of business processes, operational challenges, technology options, and process-facilitation techniques.

  • Lead and participate in enterprise strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value-case development, and business innovation portfolio planning.

  • Use business and technology insights to enable or transform critical processes, practices, organizational capabilities, and systems.

Architecture, Solution Design & Governance

  • Specify and design large-scale and highly complex systems, solutions, networks, infrastructure elements, and processes.

  • Select appropriate design standards, methods, and tools, and ensure they are applied effectively across architecture and delivery teams.

  • Lead reviews of system designs to validate technology selection, efficient use of resources, integration across systems, and alignment with enterprise standards.

  • Establish policies for the selection of architecture components and conduct impact analysis for major design options.

  • Ensure system architectures balance functional requirements, service quality, security, operability, and systems-management requirements.

  • Use appropriate tools, including models of components and interfaces, to develop complex architectures and translate requirements into detailed solution designs for implementation.

  • Provide expert guidance on system development and integration, including change requests, deviations from specifications, and adherence to relevant business and technology strategies, policies, standards, and practices.

Requirements, Improvement & Innovation

  • Select and apply tools and methods to establish, clarify, and communicate functional and non-functional requirements, user characteristics, and business tasks.

  • Identify the technical, organizational, and physical environments in which complex products and systems will operate.

  • Identify, propose, initiate, and lead significant improvement programs, assuming accountability for work quality, solution appropriateness, and realization of measurable business benefits.

  • Modify existing process-improvement approaches or develop new methods to achieve sustainable improvement.

  • Lead AI solution strategy, API management, integration architecture, security architecture, application rationalization, and technical-debt reduction initiatives.

Leadership, Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Lead resolution of complex architecture and business challenges and serve as the technical or business lead for highly complex project initiatives.

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and manage expectations across customers, partners, and management.

  • Participate in customer walkthroughs, planning sessions, design and technical reviews, problem resolution, and decision-making activities.

  • Collaborate with departments across the organization, including developing and interpreting highly complex requirements for peers and other staff.

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of designated technical domains and provide expert advice regarding their application.

  • Provide architecture leadership, coaching, mentoring, and ad hoc training to architects, developers, management, and business users.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations on complex issues within the area of expertise and promote consistency with strategic direction.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
