Entry-Level Construction Superintendent Trainee

Want to build a career in construction but don’t know where to start?

General Commercial Solutions (GCS) is looking for motivated people who want to learn commercial construction from the field up. You do not need to have been a superintendent before. We are looking for work ethic, professionalism, curiosity, accountability, and the desire to learn.

This is a hands-on development position where you will work alongside experienced project managers and superintendents while learning how commercial construction projects are actually managed in the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing daily operations on construction sites, including supervising crews and coordinating tasks to meet project timelines.
• Review and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and construction plans to ensure accurate implementation.
• Support project scheduling efforts using construction management tools to keep projects on track.
• Help enforce safety regulations by adhering to OSHA standards and federal construction safety regulations, promoting a safe work environment.
• Collaborate with project managers to monitor budgets, track progress, and manage resources effectively.
• Conduct quality control inspections and review construction drawings to verify compliance with specifications.
• Communicate clearly with team members, subcontractors, and clients to facilitate smooth project execution and manage teams efficiently.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of construction management principles.
• Prior experience or exposure to construction site environments; hands-on construction experience is highly valued.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and construction schedules accurately.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards, federal safety regulations, and general construction safety practices.
• Strong management skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills for managing crews, contractors, and clients professionally.
• Proficiency with tools such as an ohmmeter for electrical testing is a plus; understanding of quality control processes is essential.
• A proactive attitude with a desire to learn about heavy civil projects like pipelines or commercial buildings; willingness to develop managerial capabilities in a fast-paced environment.
