Entry-Level Technician (Apex, NC)

Location: Apex, NC office (Raleigh area) · Type: Full-time

Position Summary

Performance Cabling Technologies (PCT) is hiring entry-level technicians based out of our Apex office, and no prior experience is required. You will be trained 100% on the job by experienced PCT technicians, starting with the basics and building skills as you go. If you are reliable, willing to work hard, and want a skilled trade with a real career path, this is a place to start.

About PCT

Performance Cabling Technologies (PCT) is a structured cabling and telecommunications contractor headquartered in Asheboro, NC, with an additional office in Apex. We install and service inside-plant and outside-plant (ISP/OSP) cabling networks, along with security systems such as CCTV and access control.

What You Will Do

You will work alongside experienced technicians on PCT job sites, helping with tasks such as:

• Pulling and routing data, fiber, and low-voltage cable
• Installing cable pathways, racks, and mounting hardware
• Terminating and labeling cable under the guidance of a lead technician
• Assisting with the installation of security equipment such as cameras and access control devices
• Setting up job sites, handling tools and materials, and keeping work areas clean and safe
• Learning to test and document completed work
• Following all PCT and customer safety requirements

Training and Growth

You do not need to arrive with skills, because PCT teaches them. Training is hands-on and happens on real jobs, with a mentor technician showing you how the work is done and why.

• Start with the fundamentals: tool use, job site safety, cable types, and basic installation.
• Build skills through repetition: take on more of the work as your confidence and quality grow.
• Advance in the trade: move toward technician roles with greater responsibility, with pay and title growth as your skills develop.

Who We Are Looking For

Attitude matters more than experience. You are a good fit if you:

• Live in the Raleigh area and can reliably get to our Apex office each day
• Have a valid driver's license and dependable transportation
• Are willing to learn, take direction, and ask questions
• Show up on time, every time, and take pride in doing the job right
• Work well on a team and communicate clearly
• Are comfortable working with your hands and with basic tools
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

No prior cabling, electrical, or technical experience is required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

This is hands-on field work. You should be able to:

• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and work for long periods on your feet
• Climb ladders and work at heights, in crawl spaces, and in attics and ceilings
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather, including heat and cold
• Bend, kneel, reach, and work in tight spaces
• Wear required safety equipment on every job

Compensation and Benefits

Pay: $15-18 per hour, based on experience and attitude.
