Entry-Level Modeling & Data Analysis Engineer (Electrical, Aerospace, Physics)

Signature Solutions, Inc. (SSI), a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a talented and self-motivated Entry-Level Modeling, Simulation & Data Analysis Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team supporting U.S. Army programs at Redstone Arsenal, AL.

This position provides an opportunity for an early-career engineer or scientist to gain hands-on experience in physics-based modeling, simulation, scientific computing, and engineering data analysis in support of air and missile defense simulation applications.

The selected candidate will work with experienced engineers and scientists to develop, analyze, and validate models and simulation data used in high-fidelity defense applications. Depending on technical background, aptitude, and program needs, engineers may develop deeper expertise in areas such as radar and electromagnetic phenomenology, EO/IR modeling, trajectory and kinematic modeling, or simulation data analysis.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will support modeling, simulation, and analysis activities across multiple technical disciplines. Responsibilities may include:

  • Perform physics-based model development, analysis, and validation
  • Analyze predictive, empirical, and simulation-generated engineering data.
  • Support execution and analysis of high-fidelity modeling and simulation environments.
  • Perform verification and validation (V&V) activities by comparing modeled results with referent data, analytical expectations, or other simulation sources.
  • Develop, modify, and use engineering analysis tools to support model development, data processing, visualization, and V&V.
  • Apply engineering, physics, mathematics, and numerical methods to solve modeling and simulation problems.
  • Investigate discrepancies and trends within simulation and engineering datasets.
  • Develop scripts and software tools to improve analysis efficiency and automate repetitive engineering tasks.
  • Document modeling methodologies, assumptions, analysis results, and technical conclusions.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and supporting documentation.
  • Work closely with engineers, scientists, industry partners, and government customers.

Desired Technical Background

Candidates should have a strong academic foundation in one or more of the following areas:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Engineering mathematics
  • Physics
  • Numerical methods
  • Data analysis
  • Signal processing
  • Statistics and data visualization
  • Software development

Experience in all of these areas is not required. This position is intended for candidates with strong technical fundamentals who are interested in developing specialized expertise through practical modeling, simulation, and analysis work.

Software Skills

Experience with one or more of the following is desired:

  • MATLAB
  • Python
  • C/C++

Experience developing engineering scripts, processing technical datasets, or creating analysis and visualization tools through academic projects, internships, research, or professional work is valuable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
  • Approximately 0–5 years of related experience
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to understand and work with complex technical data
  • Ability to learn new engineering disciplines, modeling tools, and simulation environments
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a multidisciplinary technical team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

· An active DoD security clearance is a plus.

Academic research, internships, engineering projects, or coursework involving modeling, simulation, radar, RF, EO/IR, kinematics, scientific programming, or data analysis are considered valuable experience.

About the Role

This position is intentionally broad and designed to provide early-career engineers and scientists exposure to specific areas of defense modeling and simulation. The primary focus is using engineering and scientific principles to understand, model, analyze, and validate physical systems and technical data. Depending on individual strengths and interests, engineers may focus on specific areas of modeling an simulation.

The position provides an opportunity to build a strong foundation in modeling and simulation while working alongside experienced engineers and scientists on complex air and missile defense problems.

Security Requirements: Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility requirements to obtain/maintain a Final Secret Security Clearance.

Remote work: This position does not support remote work. All work will be performed onsite at government facilities on Redstone Arsenal, AL. Candidate must reside in the North Alabama area or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville/North Alabama area.
