Environment Officer (Lawas)

About the role

We are seeking a responsible and experienced Environment Officer to support our Lawas New Airport Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring environmental compliance, implementing environmental management measures and ensuring that project activities are carried out in accordance with applicable environmental requirements and project conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and implement environmental management requirements at the project site.
• Conduct regular environmental inspections and monitoring.
• Ensure project activities comply with applicable environmental laws, regulations and project requirements.
• Monitor issues relating to waste management, water quality, air quality, noise, erosion and sediment control.
• Maintain environmental records, reports, monitoring data and documentation.
• Coordinate environmental sampling, testing and monitoring activities where required.
• Identify environmental risks and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Assist in preparing environmental reports and submissions.
• Liaise with project consultants, contractors and relevant authorities on environmental matters.
• Conduct environmental awareness briefings and promote good environmental practices among site personnel.

About you

• Diploma/Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• Relevant experience in construction or infrastructure projects is preferred.
• Experience in airport or major infrastructure projects will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Malaysian environmental requirements and construction environmental management practices.
• Good documentation, communication and coordination skills.
• Able to work independently and conduct regular site inspections.
• Willing to be based in Lawas, Sarawak.
