PMC Environmental Engineer

Job Type: 12 months contract role

Job Purpose

The Environmental Engineer will provide environmental oversight and technical support to ensure that engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness activities are executed in compliance with project environmental requirements, regulatory obligations, and international best practices.

The successful candidate will support the PMC team in monitoring environmental performance, managing environmental risks, and ensuring compliance with applicable environmental permits, approvals, and environmental management plans throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Management & Compliance

Ensure compliance with project environmental requirements, local regulations, permit conditions, and client standards.

Review and monitor implementation of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) commitments and mitigation measures.

Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of Environmental Management Plans (EMP).

Conduct regular environmental inspections, audits, and compliance assessments across project sites.

Identify environmental risks and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

Construction Environmental Oversight

Monitor contractor environmental performance during construction activities.

Review contractor environmental procedures, method statements, and risk assessments.

Ensure proper management of waste, hazardous materials, chemicals, emissions, noise, and water discharges.

Verify compliance with erosion control, sediment control, and pollution prevention requirements.

Monitor marine and coastal environmental protection measures associated with seawater intake and discharge facilities.

Reporting & Documentation

Prepare environmental performance reports and KPI dashboards.

Maintain environmental records, permits, approvals, and compliance registers.

Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis of environmental events.

Track corrective actions and ensure timely close-out of environmental findings.

Stakeholder Management

Interface with client representatives, regulatory authorities, contractors, and consultants regarding environmental matters.

Support environmental regulatory submissions and permit applications where required.

Participate in project meetings and provide environmental guidance to multidisciplinary teams.

Sustainability & Improvement

Promote environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives across the project.

Support implementation of waste minimization, resource efficiency, and environmental improvement programs.

Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance and project sustainability outcomes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.

Speaking in Korean and English

Professional environmental qualifications and certifications are advantageous.

Membership of a recognized professional body is preferred.

Experience

Minimum 15 years of environmental experience within the Oil & Gas, Energy, Infrastructure, Water, or Industrial sectors.

Previous PMC, EPCM, or Owner's Engineer experience preferred.

Experience on large-scale infrastructure, marine, water treatment, desalination, seawater intake/outfall, or utility projects is highly desirable.

Experience in the Middle East region preferred.

Strong understanding of environmental permitting and compliance requirements.
