Environmental Engineer

About the Role

Responsible for managing wastewater treatment, water reclamation and recycling, air pollution control systems, scheduled waste disposal, and environmental sustainability initiatives. The role ensures compliance with Department of Environment (DOE) requirements and applicable environmental legislation, while supporting ISO 14001 environmental aspects and impacts assessments, objectives and targets, and corporate-level environmental improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and coach a team of technician and supervisor responsible for the operation and maintenance of the physical-chemical Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), scrubber, water reclamation, and RODI systems
• Ensure wastewater treatment plant operation in according to EQA (Industrial Effluent) guideline and full compliance on final discharge wastewater quality
• Review daily, weekly, and monthly wastewater treatment reports to monitor operational performance, identify abnormalities, and initiate corrective actions
• Ensure operational records and performance monitoring data are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with DOE requirements
• Plan and oversee preventive maintenance of the WWTP, scrubber, water reclamation, and RODI systems to maintain equipment reliability and operational efficiency
• Provide technical support and lead improvement projects for wastewater treatment, scrubber performance, water reclamation, and RODI systems
• Ensure scheduled waste is properly handled, stored, documented, and disposed of through licensed contractors in accordance with applicable requirements
• Promptly report operational abnormalities and environmental compliance risks if any to management, recommend immediate corrective actions, and follow through to resolution

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree, or Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or relevant discipline

• Hold a valid CePIETSO-PCP certification (Certified Environmental Professional in Industrial Effluent Treatment System Operation—Physical Chemical Process)

• Additional competency certifications, such as CEPSO and CePSWaM, will be an advantage

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in wastewater treatment operations within a manufacturing environment

• Relevant experience in water reclamation, RODI, scrubber operations, and scheduled waste management is preferred

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees at all levels, suppliers, customers, and contractors

• Proven ability to lead and coach the teams, coordinate cross-functional activities, and resolve operational issues effectively

• Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, with strong attention to accuracy and timeliness

• Mature, proactive, energetic, and accountable, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure
