Environmental Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to join PT. China State Construction Overseas Development Shanghai. This is a full-time position based in Cikarang Pusat, West Java. As an Environmental Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our construction and development projects comply with environmental regulations and sustainability standards. You will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental management strategies that minimise ecological impact whilst maintaining project efficiency and profitability. This role is fundamental to our commitment to responsible development and environmental stewardship across all our overseas operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the project HSE Plan, risk assessments (HIRADC/JSA), method statement reviews, and permit-to-work systems for all high-risk activities.
• Monitor environmental compliance throughout all project phases, including construction, operation and decommissioning
• Conduct daily site inspections and audits of scaffolding, temporary electrical, lifting equipment, and fire protection. Ensure subcontractors comply with HSE requirements and issue corrective actions when needed.
• Implement waste management, water quality, air quality and noise control measures on project sites

• Prepare environmental reports, technical documentation and regulatory submissions
• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills (fire, evacuation, medical). Maintain competency records for workers and operators.
• Identify opportunities for sustainable design and green building practices to enhance project environmental performance
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, determine root causes, and track corrective actions. Prepare weekly and monthly HSE statistics (TRIR, LTIFR) and report to management and the client.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer or a related discipline.

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in environmental engineering within the construction or infrastructure development sector (data center construction project experience is a strong plus).

• Strong knowledge of Indonesian environmental regulations, laws and compliance requirements, including AMDAL (Environmental Impact Assessment) processes.

• Adequate knowledge and implementation of LEED (Leadership Environmental Engineering Design)

• Professional certification in Environmental Works (K3 Lingkungan Kerja).

• Expertise in environmental impact assessment methodologies and sustainability standards applicable to large-scale construction projects.

• Excellent communication skills in English and Indonesian, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
