Environmental Operator Wanted!

Drake is currently seeking a motivated and reliable Environmental Operator to work on a large, well-established dairy farming operation in Longburn, Manawatū.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with previous tractor operating experience who enjoys working outdoors and is confident operating agricultural machinery.

The role will primarily involve tractor operation, including ripping and aeration of farmland, shifting irrigation equipment, and some digger operation. Candidates with Wheels, Tracks and Rollers (WTR) endorsements are preferred.

What We're Looking For:

• Full NZ Driver Licence
• Previous tractor operating experience
• Experience working on farms or in agricultural environments
• Experience operating diggers or other heavy machinery preferred
• WTR endorsements highly advantageous
• ATV training certification preferred but not essential
• Reliable transport to and from work
• Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks efficiently
• Physically fit and able to lift 15 - 25kg
• A strong commitment to Health & Safety
• Able to work Monday to Friday 06.00am - 15.30pm
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug and medical test
• No criminal convictions
• Minimum of 2 recent work references required

Skills & Experience:

• Confident and competent operating tractors and agricultural machinery
• Previous experience with ripping, aeration or general farm maintenance advantageous
• Experience moving and setting up farm irrigation equipment
• Basic knowledge of machinery maintenance and daily equipment checks
• Ability to safely operate machinery across varying ground conditions
• Good communication skills and a practical, hands-on approach
• Reliable, punctual and able to work with minimal supervision

What You'll Be Doing:

As an Environmental Operator, you'll play an important role in supporting day-to-day farming operations and maintaining farmland.

Your daily duties may include:

• Operating tractors to carry out ripping and aeration across farmland
• Shifting and repositioning irrigation equipment as required
• Operating diggers for general farm maintenance and earthworks
• Carrying out daily machinery inspections and basic maintenance
• Ensuring machinery is operated safely and efficiently
• Assisting with general farm duties as required
• Identifying and reporting equipment faults or potential hazards
• Following all site Health & Safety procedures
• Working independently and alongside the wider farming team to complete daily tasks
