Environmental Services Representative

Deaconess is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Representative to join our healthcare facility team. This position is PRN, as needed.

The EVS Rep will perform daily cleaning duties throughout the healthcare facility, including patient rooms, hallways, waiting areas, restrooms, and staff areas. You will follow established cleaning protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with healthcare sanitation standards and regulations. This includes proper handling of cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and equipment according to safety guidelines and infection control protocols. You will be responsible for collecting and disposing of regular and medical waste in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.

In this role, you will maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting shortages to the supervisor to ensure uninterrupted service. You will also respond promptly to cleaning requests and emergencies, such as spills or contamination incidents, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact on patient care. The position requires collaboration with nursing staff and other departments to coordinate cleaning schedules that minimize disruption to patient care while ensuring timely room turnover.

You will be expected to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, as you will frequently interact with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff. You will need to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding cleaning needs, challenges, or safety concerns. The role requires attention to detail in documenting completed tasks and maintaining cleaning logs as required by facility protocols and regulatory standards. Required Skills

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous cleaning or janitorial experience preferred but not required
• Experience in healthcare or hospital settings is a plus
• Understanding of OSHA and infection control standards
• Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in previous employment
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in a healthcare environment
• Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as needed
• Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds
• Comfort working in various environments including patient care areas
