Environmental Specialist

About the Opportunity

We are looking to connect with an experienced Environmental Specialist to support professional services opportunities within Trinidad & Tobago's energy and industrial sectors.

The successful candidate will provide environmental and HSSE expertise supporting operational and project activities, with particular emphasis on environmental compliance, Environmental Management Systems, environmental performance and continuous improvement.

This opportunity would suit an experienced environmental professional with a strong background in process plant, oil and gas, petrochemical, energy or similar industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

The Environmental Specialist may be responsible for:

• Supporting implementation and maintenance of Environmental Management Systems.
• Providing technical guidance on environmental compliance, regulations, standards and good industry practice.
• Supporting environmental performance monitoring and reporting.
• Conducting or supporting environmental site assessments, sampling and analysis activities.
• Providing technical input into environmental risk identification and assessment.
• Supporting HSSE activities associated with projects and operational activities.
• Advising stakeholders on environmental requirements and improvement opportunities.
• Supporting greenhouse gas emissions monitoring, data management and reporting.
• Contributing to climate, energy efficiency and environmental improvement initiatives.
• Working collaboratively with operations, engineering, project and HSSE teams.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates should ideally possess:

• A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management, Natural Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline .
• A minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience .
• Recent environmental/HSSE experience within an oil and gas, process plant, petrochemical, energy or comparable industrial environment .
• Practical experience implementing, maintaining or supporting an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System .
• Knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations, codes and industry practices.
• Experience with environmental site assessments, sampling, monitoring and analysis.
• Knowledge of environmental and task-based risk assessment processes.
• Understanding of climate change, greenhouse gas emissions and carbon management.
• Familiarity with relevant environmental, energy and GHG frameworks and standards.
• Experience analysing environmental or emissions data and contributing to regulatory or management reporting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
