Environmental Technician

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Environmental Technician to lead daily operations on our WWTP, Scrubber and Scheduled Waste. You will support WWTP, Scrubber processes and Scheduled Waste Management—ensuring the compliance and safety for the DOE and DOSH.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and control the daily activities of the Industrial Effluent Treatment System (IETS/WWTP) to ensure discharged effluent strictly complies with DOE Standard A/B regulations
• Conduct daily sampling and laboratory testing for key parameters such as pH, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Suspended Solids (SS), and temperature
• Calculate, prepare, and control the dosing of treatment chemicals (e.g., coagulants, flocculants, caustic soda, acid) based on daily jar tests and water conditions
• Operate the filter press or sludge dewatering machine efficiently and ensure proper collection, weighing, and transfer of WWTP sludge to the designated Scheduled Waste storage area
• Identify and rectify any process upsets or abnormalities in the WWTP system immediately to prevent non-compliance
• Monitor the daily performance of the scrubber system, including checking pressure drops, water flow rates, and exhaust fan operations
• Ensure adequate chemical dosing (e.g., alkaline solutions) to neutralize acidic/hazardous fumes effectively before emission
• Inspect and clean scrubber nozzles, packing media, and related piping to prevent blockages and maintain optimal scrubbing efficiency
• Oversee the proper collection, segregation, packaging, and labeling of all factory Scheduled Waste according to Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005
• Maintain accurate records of scheduled waste generation and disposal in the e-SWIS (Electronic Scheduled Waste Information System) portal

About you

• Professional knowledge and skills in WWTP and Scrubber Operation and Maintenance, Scheduled Waste Management
• Experience in wastewater treatment plant operations
• Knowledge of DOE Standard A/B regulations and Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005
• Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance on environmental equipment, including pumps, blowers, mixers, and sensors
• Ability to ensure routine calibration and cleaning of pH meters, flowmeters, and other sensitive analytical equipment
• Strict adherence to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) guidelines and correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators, face shields, and chemical-resistant gloves
