Environmental Technician

Job Summary

Responsible for the performance of tasks associated with but not limited to lab decontaminations, chemical cleaning, Tank cleaning, facilities closure activities, collecting, segregating, packing, and prepare for shipment of hazardous waste in accordance with our company policies and procedures at various client locations.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform safe work practices that involve chemical and biohazardous materials.
• Assist with consolidating, packaging, and shipping hazardous and biological waste material.
• Organize and label containers according to DOT & EPA guidelines.
• Provide inspection services of waste storage areas and equipment.
• Facility decontamination and cleaning as directed.
• Respond to emergency situations.
• Attend and maintain all required training necessary for position.
• Load, unload, move, or store items as directed by supervisor and performing general housekeeping duties.
• Safe operation of company equipment.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Ability to pass a pre-employment background screen, physical, respirator fit-test, and drug screen.
• Must possess basic knowledge of the language and terminologies used in this occupation.
• Excellent customer service skills with internal and external points of contact.
• Must work safely to prevent injury to self and others.
• Must possess the ability to receive and follow direction.

Education and Experience

• High School Graduate or Equivalent preferred.
• One (1) year of job related experience preferred.
• Successfully completed 40 hour HAZWOPER and subsequent Annual 8 hour Refresher training courses.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Requires pushing, pulling, bending twisting and lifting.
• Must possess the ability to use a variety of manual and power tools.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
