ENVIRONMENTALIST

About the role
Vicente T. Lao Construction is seeking a dedicated and passionate Environmentalist to join our team on a full-time basis in Tupi, South Cotabato. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that all our construction projects comply with environmental regulations and sustainability standards. The Environmentalist will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental management strategies that minimize the ecological impact of our construction activities whilst maintaining project efficiency and profitability. Key responsibilities

• Conducting environmental impact assessments for construction projects prior to commencement and throughout all phases of development
• Developing and implementing comprehensive environmental management plans that align with local, regional and national environmental regulations
• Monitoring construction sites to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, pollution control measures and waste management protocols
• Liaising with environmental regulatory authorities and obtaining necessary environmental permits and approvals
• Managing waste disposal, recycling programmes and hazardous material handling on construction sites
• Conducting regular environmental audits and inspections to identify potential risks and areas for improvement
• Providing environmental training and guidance to construction staff and contractors
• Preparing detailed environmental reports and documentation for project records and regulatory submissions
• Identifying opportunities for sustainable construction practices and recommending eco-friendly alternatives to project teams
• Managing environmental incidents and non-conformances, implementing corrective actions as required

What we're looking for

• A degree or higher qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or a related discipline

• Comprehensive knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations and compliance requirements applicable in the Philippines

• Strong understanding of construction processes, site operations and the environmental challenges specific to construction activities

• Proficiency in environmental impact assessment methodologies and environmental management system standards

• Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to prepare clear and professional environmental reports

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and environmental management software

• A commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation with a proactive approach to problem-solving

• Ability to work collaboratively with construction teams, management and external stakeholders
