  • Encouraging engagement and gradually building positive learning routines.
  • Using the learner’s interests, strengths and preferred learning styles to make sessions engaging and accessible.
  • Supporting learners who may experience SEMH needs, anxiety, school avoidance or challenging behaviour.
  • Using positive behaviour strategies and appropriate de-escalation approaches where required.
  • Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback.
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the learner.
  • Working collaboratively with parents/carers and other professionals involved in the learner’s education.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Following safeguarding procedures and promoting the welfare of the young person.

Essential requirements:

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Reliable and consistent approach to work.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
  • The right to work in the UK.
