What they need
Energy Storage EPC Site Manager - Germany & Europe
Location: Germany and European sites
About the Company
An international organisation operating within the renewable energy and energy storage sector is seeking an experienced professional to support the delivery of utility-scale energy infrastructure projects across Europe.
The organisation specialises in the development and delivery of complex engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects, working with multidisciplinary teams and regional partners to deliver reliable, high-quality energy solutions.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Energy Storage EPC Site Manager to oversee the end-to-end on-site delivery of energy storage and related renewable energy projects across European markets.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for construction planning, site execution, stakeholder coordination and project handover, ensuring delivery in accordance with contractual obligations, project schedules, quality requirements, safety standards and cost targets.
This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring strong technical knowledge, practical construction management experience and the ability to coordinate multicultural teams in an international project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Project & Construction Management
- Manage the full on-site project lifecycle, from construction planning and mobilisation through execution, completion and contractual handover.
- Develop and implement construction plans, site schedules and resource deployment strategies to achieve key project milestones.
- Coordinate construction activities across multiple workstreams, ensuring effective integration between engineering, procurement, commercial and operations teams.
- Support pre-construction site surveys, feasibility assessments and construction planning activities.
- Develop site-specific construction strategies that account for local regulations, site conditions, resource availability and supply-chain constraints.
Site Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate internal project teams and external stakeholders, including subcontractors, construction crews, equipment suppliers, clients and local partners.
- Maintain effective working relationships with local contractors and relevant site authorities to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Resolve technical discrepancies, construction interfaces, resource constraints and cross-disciplinary issues.
- Provide practical site-level recommendations and timely updates to support project decision-making.
- Issue and communicate construction instructions, coordinate corrective actions and drive the timely resolution of site-related issues.
Quality, Safety, Schedule & Cost Control
- Monitor and control site progress, construction quality, health and safety performance, and project costs.
- Ensure construction activities comply with applicable technical specifications, contractual requirements and relevant local regulations.
- Identify potential construction risks and safety hazards, implementing appropriate mitigation measures.
- Monitor workmanship, material usage, resource efficiency and subcontractor performance.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning activities and project acceptance in collaboration with relevant technical teams.
- Support effective project close-out, handover and the resolution of outstanding site issues.
- Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare, review and maintain accurate construction documentation, including daily site reports, progress records, inspection records, hidden-work documentation and as-built drawings.
- Ensure project records are complete, properly maintained and aligned with contractual and acceptance requirements.
- Contribute to the improvement of construction management procedures, site workflows and project control standards.
- Monitor developments in construction technologies, installation methods and industry practices to support continuous improvement in project delivery.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of three years’ hands-on site management experience in overseas EPC projects within the energy storage, renewable energy or wider new-energy sector.
- Demonstrable experience coordinating the full on-site construction lifecycle, including planning, execution, schedule management, quality and safety control, and project handover.
- Previous experience delivering projects in European markets is preferred.
- Experience working with international construction standards, relevant safety requirements, and energy storage system installation and commissioning processes.
Technical & Project Management Skills
- Strong understanding of EPC construction management, site coordination and project delivery processes.
- Practical experience in subcontractor management, workforce and equipment deployment, construction sequencing and cost control.
- Ability to identify and resolve technical issues, construction delays, resource constraints and multidisciplinary interface conflicts.
- Familiarity with European construction regulations, local labour requirements and regional business practices is advantageous.
- Ability to prepare and manage technical site documentation, construction reports and as-built records.
- Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain project momentum.
Language & Communication
- Fluent German, with the ability to communicate effectively with local subcontractors, construction teams and other site stakeholders.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken, as the primary working language.
- Strong cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with international project teams.
- Confidence in communicating technical requirements, issuing construction instructions and managing site-level discussions independently.
Personal Attributes
- Willingness to undertake long-term overseas assignments within Europe.
- Strong leadership, coordination and team management capabilities.
- Highly organised, proactive and results-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Able to respond effectively to unexpected site challenges and changing project requirements.
- Clear and structured thinking, with strong execution skills and the ability to align multiple stakeholders around construction milestones.
Opportunity
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of large-scale energy infrastructure projects within an international, technically focused environment, working alongside multidisciplinary teams across European markets.
