Position Summary

NANI is seeking an experienced, Epic-certified professional to serve as our Epic Clinical Applications & Optimization Lead (Acumen/Ambulatory). This critical role leads end-user education, clinical workflow optimization, and application adoption across our physician practice. Serving as NANI’s internal Epic/Acumen subject matter expert, you will work directly with physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical staff, operations, revenue cycle, and IT to improve how technology supports patient care and daily operations.

The successful candidate will own training programs, translate operational needs into actionable improvements, and coordinate with EPIC Acumen/Interwell on enhancements, testing, and issue resolution within NANI’s hosted Epic environment. This is a hands-on role with accountability for follow-through, provider engagement, and measurable improvements in efficiency and adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provider and staff education: Develop and deliver role-based onboarding, individual coaching, group training, and refresher education for physicians, advanced practice providers, and staff. Assess proficiency and tailor education to individual and team needs.
  • Training content and consistency: Create and maintain workflow guides, quick-reference materials, training videos, and a centralized education resource. Keep content aligned with approved workflows and system changes.
  • Clinical workflow optimization: Observe daily workflows, identify unnecessary steps and recurring pain points, and partner with clinical and operational leaders to improve documentation, in-basket management, orders, referrals, and related ambulatory processes.
  • Application expertise: Guide users on effective use of Epic features, personalization, templates, and documentation tools. Implement approved changes within assigned access and coordinate host-controlled configuration with Acumen.
  • Acumen coordination and delivery: Maintain a prioritized enhancement and issue backlog. Document requirements, business impact, ownership, and acceptance criteria; track requests with Acumen/Interwell through resolution and communicate status to stakeholders.
  • Testing and change readiness: Coordinate user acceptance testing, validate workflows, document defects, and prepare education and communications for upgrades and new functionality. Support go-lives and confirm outcomes after implementation.
  • Adoption and support improvement: Partner with the IT support team to identify recurring application questions, distinguish training needs from system defects, and reduce repeat issues through education and workflow improvements.
  • Governance and collaboration: Work with providers, operations, revenue cycle, and IT to prioritize improvements, standardize approved practices, and evaluate new functionality. Follow privacy, security, access, and change management requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • At least five years of progressive experience supporting Epic applications, end-user training, clinical workflows, or application optimization, including meaningful experience in an ambulatory or physician-practice environment.
  • Current Epic certification in an application relevant to the role. Candidates must be able to identify their certification track and demonstrate that required continuing education is current.
  • Demonstrated experience training physicians and clinical staff, developing education materials, and adapting instruction for different roles and levels of proficiency.
  • Proven ability to analyze workflows, document requirements, coordinate testing, and carry improvement initiatives from discovery through implementation and follow-up.
  • Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to explain system capabilities and limitations clearly to clinical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities independently, maintain clear documentation, and drive timely follow-through with internal teams and external partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, information systems, education, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Epic or another Epic Community Connect environment.
  • Epic Principal Trainer certification or experience owning curriculum and training environments; additional relevant Epic application certifications.
  • Experience in nephrology, multispecialty physician practices, or a geographically distributed ambulatory organization.
  • Familiarity with clinical documentation, professional billing workflows, charge capture, and the operational connections between clinical and revenue cycle teams.
  • Experience measuring provider adoption, training effectiveness, and workflow performance; project management or process-improvement experience.
  • Experience supporting adoption of approved clinical AI documentation tools and other Epic-integrated functionality.
