Job Summary

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Epileptologist to join our neurology team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a Board -certified physician dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy and seizure disorders to help develop and grow specialized neuroscience services while serving a diverse patient population in Queens, New York.

Position Highlights

• Provide comprehensive evaluation and management of patients with epilepsy and seizure disorders
• Interpret EEGs (electroencephalograms) and other neurodiagnostic tests to identify seizure types and epileptogenic zones.
• Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating medication management, surgical options, neurostimulation therapies, or dietary therapies such as ketogenic diets.
• Collaborate closely with neurologists, neurosurgeons, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Monitor patient progress through follow-up visits, adjusting treatment strategies as necessary to improve seizure control and quality of life.
• Educate patients and their families about epilepsy management, medication adherence, safety precautions, and lifestyle modifications.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical research projects, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance epilepsy care services.

Requirements

• Board certification in Neurology with specialized training or fellowship in Epilepsy.
• Post-residency experience in the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy, including advanced neurodiagnostic skills.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and data management.
• Strong knowledge of neuroimaging techniques such as MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) relevant to epilepsy evaluation.
• Familiarity with medical imaging interpretation related to epileptogenic lesions.
• Experience collaborating with healthcare professionals across multiple disciplines including anesthesiology, neurosurgery, radiology, and rehabilitation services.
• Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development through research or continuing medical education in epilepsy.
