What they need
Spencer Technologies is a global provider of field services and infrastructure support, from structured cabling through to active equipment. For over 40 years we've helped the world's top retail brands — from Louis Vuitton to Swarovski — and channel partners like Verizon and AT&T solve their toughest logistics and technology challenges.
We're looking for a motivated, customer-focused ePOS / mPOS Field Engineer to support our retail, hospitality and leisure customers across the UK and Europe. Based from Sheffield, this field-based role combines hands-on break-fix support with pre-staging, installation and deployment projects — so no two weeks are the same. If you enjoy solving technical problems, working independently and delivering excellent customer service, we'd love to hear from you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
■ Diagnosing and repairing ePOS, mPOS, IT and networking equipment
■ Attending customer sites to resolve hardware, software and connectivity issues
■ Pre-staging, configuring and testing ePOS and IT hardware at our Sheffield facility ahead of deployment
■ Installing, configuring and testing new ePOS and IT systems on site
■ Carrying out structured cabling and Wi-Fi fault investigations
■ Conducting site surveys for planned upgrades and installations
■ Performing preventative maintenance on customer equipment
■ Supporting project rollouts and technology deployments across the UK and Europe
■ Working closely with our engineering, planning and project management teams
■ Delivering a professional, customer-focused service on every visit
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Essential
■ Minimum 6 months' experience in a field-based customer service engineering role, ideally in retail, hospitality or leisure
■ Knowledge of ePOS systems, PCs, peripherals and IP networking
■ Experience installing and supporting IT equipment
■ Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
■ Excellent customer service and communication abilities
■ A self-sufficient approach — able to work independently and manage your own workload
■ Full UK driving licence
■ A valid passport and willingness to travel across Europe
Desirable
■ Experience within retail, hospitality, leisure or field service environments
■ Wi-Fi troubleshooting and structured cabling experience
■ Experience supporting multi-site customer environments
WHAT WE OFFER
■ Salary of £33,000 – £35,000 per annum depending on experience
■ Paid overtime, plus an uplift when working in Europe
■ Company van and fuel card
■ 20 days holiday per year rising to 25, plus all statutory bank holidays
■ Company pension scheme contributions
■ Structured training and ongoing professional development
■ Exposure to a wide range of retail and hospitality technologies for some of the world's top brands
■ A varied role combining break-fix support and project installations
■ A supportive team culture with real opportunities to grow your career
GOOD TO KNOW
This is a field-based role with frequent travel across the UK and Europe. Regular overnight stays away from home are a significant part of the role, and some out-of-hours and night work is necessary to support customer requirements.
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
