Equipment Engineer

About the role

This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment used in the assembly and testing of laser devices. This role supports production by installing, qualifying, maintaining, and optimizing equipment while driving timely maintenance, troubleshooting of technical issues, repair and improving equipment uptime and process capability. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to support product development, ramp and high-volume manufacturing of laser devices, ensure compliance with quality and safety standards and deliver sustainable manufacturing solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Install, qualify, maintain and optimize laser assembly and test equipment to ensure high reliability, performance, and production readiness
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness
• Support product development, equipment upgrades, automation projects, and process improvements to enhance yield, quality, and manufacturing efficiency
• Develop and maintain equipment documentation, preventive maintenance programs, and ensure compliance with quality, ESD, laser safety, cleanroom, and EHS standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, equipment suppliers, and production personnel to resolve technical issues, provide training, and support continuous improvement initiatives

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics Engineering or equivalent
• Expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining assembly and test equipment to maximize uptime and reliability
• Strong knowledge of motion control, robotics, machine vision, sensors, and industrial automation systems for equipment integration and optimization
• Ability to improve equipment performance, process capability, yield, cycle time, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through data-driven analysis
• Proficient in structured problem-solving tools such as RCA, FMEA, SPC, and DOE to identify failure mechanisms and implement sustainable corrective actions

Working Conditions

• This role is 100% onsite in a cleanroom or office environment.
