Equipment Engineer

Job Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance (PM) plans for equipment. Establish inspection checklists, lubrication schedules, and wear-part replacement standards. Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and reduce unplanned downtime through Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives.

2. Respond promptly to unexpected equipment failures on production lines. Utilize tools such as FMEA, 5 Why Analysis, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to identify root causes, implement immediate corrective actions, and drive long-term improvements to ensure continuous 24/7 production operations.

3. Lead equipment automation upgrades, program optimization, parameter tuning, and customized equipment modification projects. Improve equipment cycle time, yield, and energy efficiency through PLC program modifications, sensor upgrades, and pneumatic system optimization.

4. Prepare, maintain, and update equipment operating SOPs, preventive maintenance instructions, inspection checklists, troubleshooting manuals, and other technical documentation to ensure standardized operating and maintenance procedures.

5. Collaborate closely with Process Engineering, Quality, Production, and R&D teams to support equipment validation during New Product Introduction (NPI) and trial production. Identify equipment compatibility issues and drive design improvements. Provide equipment operation and maintenance training to operators to strengthen autonomous maintenance capabilities on the production floor.

6. Manage the entire equipment lifecycle, from equipment selection, procurement, installation, commissioning, and acceptance to decommissioning. Participate in technical proposal reviews, supplier evaluations, installation and commissioning supervision, and process validation to ensure new equipment meets capacity, precision, and compatibility requirements.

7. Ensure compliance with equipment safety operating procedures. Identify mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic hazards and implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, safety guard inspections, and emergency stop function testing.

8. Manage critical spare parts inventory, establish minimum safety stock levels, analyze maintenance and repair costs, and optimize procurement strategies to reduce equipment operating and maintenance costs.

Job Requirements

1. Diploma or above in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design and Manufacturing, or a related technical field.

2. Minimum 3 years of experience in the maintenance or commissioning of customized/non-standard equipment. Experience in automated production line maintenance, PLC program optimization, and MES data integration will be an advantage.

3. Proficient in using inspection and diagnostic tools such as vernier calipers, dial indicators, oscilloscopes, and multimeters, with the ability to independently diagnose equipment accuracy deviations and electrical faults.

4. Proficient in using Excel or BI tools to analyze Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) data to support equipment improvement initiatives.

5. Fluent in written and spoken Chinese and English, with strong equipment commissioning, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Remarks

Candidates with hands-on experience in customized/non-standard automation equipment within specialized fields such as semiconductor manufacturing, SMT, or testing equipment will be preferred.
