What they need

Are you a safety-minded, hands-on technical professional who enjoys preparing equipment, solving practical problems, and supporting marine fieldwork? In this role, you will assemble, test, maintain, and document acoustic moorings and oceanographic equipment while supporting warehouse operations, field teams, and vessel-based deployments and recoveries.

About JASCO

For more than 40 years, JASCO Applied Sciences has combined science, technology, and practical solutions to help clients understand and protect marine environments. Our global teams design, build, and support specialized ocean systems.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

Meaningful work: Support equipment used in ocean science, environmental monitoring, and marine operations.

Varied experience: Build skills in equipment readiness, inventory, troubleshooting, shipping, training, and field support.

Supportive team: Work with colleagues who value safety, inclusion, collaboration, and high-quality work.

About the Role

In this hands-on role, you’ll help ensure JASCO’s acoustic moorings and oceanographic equipment are safe, complete, traceable, and ready for deployment and recovery. You’ll work closely with engineering, project, logistics, quality, and field teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop mooring concepts, deployment procedures, diagrams, bills of materials, and assembly information with engineers and project teams.
  • Assemble, configure, inspect, test, package, maintain, and disassemble instruments, acoustic equipment, and mooring systems.
  • Ensure equipment kits are complete, serviceable, labelled, documented, and ready on schedule; coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Maintain accurate inventories and records for equipment, components, consumables, tools, shipping materials, maintenance, and readiness.
  • Support purchasing, receiving, storage, restocking, shipping, and safe, orderly warehouse operations.
  • Provide first-line equipment and data-offload support, troubleshoot within your training, and identify readiness or quality risks early.
  • Develop and deliver practical equipment training and maintain clear assembly, inspection, maintenance, shipping, and training records.
  • Participate in vessel-based deployments and recoveries when required and follow safe-work practices.

What You’ll Bring

  • Technical diploma, trade training, or equivalent relevant hands-on experience in marine, mechanical, electrical, industrial, field-service, or related technical work.
  • Experience assembling, inspecting, maintaining, or supporting equipment, instrumentation, rigging, or marine systems.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools and basic test or inspection equipment.
  • Ability to follow technical drawings, assembly instructions, procedures, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong organization, problem-solving, documentation, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and ability to learn inventory and equipment-management systems.
  • Ability to work safely in warehouse, workshop, dockside, and vessel environments; stand for extended periods; and move loads using appropriate methods and equipment.
  • Willingness to travel and complete sea-going assignments, including required medical clearance, training, or certification.
  • Eligibility for Reliability Status security screening, including applicable background checks and the related five-year Canadian residency requirement.

Assets

  • Experience with oceanographic equipment, acoustic releases, CTDs, ADCPs, acoustic recorders, mooring systems, rigging, or marine operations.
  • Experience with inventory, maintenance-management, shipping, warehouse, offshore, field-service, or technical training activities.
  • Relevant training or certification, such as rigging, first aid, WHMIS, lift-truck operation, fall protection, STCW, or BOSIET.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, environmental, or quality-management programs.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation
  • Health and dental benefits
  • Retirement Savings program
  • Flexible personal leave and vacation
  • Collaborative, inclusive, and supportive workplace

How to Apply

Submit your resume and, optionally, a brief cover letter highlighting relevant hands-on experience. Please confirm whether you meet the five-year Canadian residency requirement for timely Reliability Status screening. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
