HOURS: 40 Hours per Week
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
AFFILIATION: AFL-CIO, Council 93, Local 1702 – Highway

SALARY: $30.96 - $39.27

POSITION SUMMARY

This position performs skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of heavy or specialized equipment in the performance of various public infrastructure construction and maintenance activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Operates all types of heavy equipment, power tools, hand tools and vehicles used in public infrastructure construction and maintenance activities.

· Maintains equipment being used by checking and changing all fluids when necessary.

· Checks batteries and tires, changes filters and assists with mechanical repairs.

· Assists in street sweeping, cleaning and maintenance and Traffic sign and signal repair

· Assists in snow removal operations and Cemetery operations.

· Assists with greenspace maintenance and forestry operations.

· Assists in water main repair, maintenance and replacement including water hydrant installation.

· Assists in sewer main repair, maintenance and replacement including deep trench operations.

· This position is deemed essential personnel and must report to work during emergency situations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· High school graduate or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.

· Possesses a CDL, (A or B) License.

· Massachusetts Department of Public Safety Hoisting Engineer License with at least a 2B restriction or ability to obtain within one year of employment

· 1 to 3 years of experience in public infrastructure construction and operation of construction equipment and machinery; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills. Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
