Read this part first This is a run-the-machine AND get-in-the-ditch job. You'll be on the excavator and skid steer, but you're also getting off the machine to grade by hand, set pipe, shoot grade, run a jumping jack, and backfill. Some days you've got a laborer with you; some days it's just you and you do it all. You're up and down all day. If you're looking to only sit on a machine, this isn't the one — and that's on purpose. What you'll actually do

• Run excavator and skid steer for trenching, digging, grading and backfill
• Get in the trench: hand-grade, set and lay septic and utility pipe to plan, shoulder-in stone
• Run a plate compactor / jumping jack to compact backfill
• Shoot and hold grade, read a plan, keep the install to spec
• Work safe around underground utilities and on residential and lakefront sites
• Load/unload the trailer, keep tools and the machine cleaned up and ready
• Do the whole job solo when the day calls for it — you're not waiting on someone else to grab a shovel

What we're looking for

• Real seat time on an excavator and/or skid steer — but a guy who'll get off it and work
• Septic, sewer/water, or underground-utility experience — a big plus
• Can lift 50+ lbs repeatedly, work in the trench, and stay up-and-down all day in all weather
• Reliable, safety-minded, shows up ready to work
• Valid driver's license (required). CDL is a plus, not required.

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 45.0 per week
