About Us

Northern Pizza Equipment has supported pizzerias and commercial kitchens for over 30 years, providing quality equipment, service, and expertise. We work with both independent operators and national brands across Michigan and the surrounding region and have built a reputation for dependable service and craftsmanship.

About the Role

Northern Pizza Equipment is looking for a hands-on, motivated Equipment Technician to help restore and rebuild commercial kitchen equipment used by restaurants across Michigan and beyond. You’ll work alongside a skilled production team through every stage of the process, from disassembly and cleaning to refinishing, reassembly, and final inspection.

No prior commercial kitchen equipment experience is required. If you’re mechanically inclined, enjoy working with your hands, take pride in quality work, and are willing to learn, we’ll provide the training and mentorship to help you succeed. This role is a great fit for someone with a background in mechanical work, automotive, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, or another hands-on trade, or anyone who enjoys fixing, building, and figuring out how things work.

What You’ll Do

  • Disassemble commercial foodservice equipment and accurately inventory parts and components.
  • Clean equipment frames, assemblies, and individual parts using mechanical and chemical cleaning processes.
  • Inspect components for wear, damage, or defects, and identify parts that need repair or replacement.
  • Refinish and restore surfaces through painting, polishing, and other finishing processes.
  • Reassemble equipment to company standards and perform basic operational testing.
  • Document work time, materials used, and project progress.
  • Safely load, unload, and move equipment.
  • Assist with equipment deliveries and installations at customer locations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company procedures and safety guidelines.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to lift up to 85 pounds unassisted.
  • Mechanical aptitude and confidence using hand and power tools.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed, including occasional overnight travel.
  • Previous experience in repair skills, or another hands-on trade is a plus.
  • Reliability and the follow-through to see tasks to completion.
  • Flexibility when customer needs change priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A team-first attitude and pride in quality work.

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience of $22-24 per hour.
  • Apprenticeship and mentorship opportunities for ongoing development.
  • Company-provided uniforms and safety equipment.
  • Team events and company-sponsored activities.
  • Paid time off.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and life insurance options, plus a retirement savings program available after 90 days of employment.

Why Join Northern Pizza Equipment?

This isn't a job where you'll do the same thing every day. You'll work with different equipment, learn new skills, solve hands-on problems, and have a visible role in turning used equipment into something customers can rely on.

This position requires completion of a background check and physical as part of the onboarding process, in compliance with applicable law and Michigan Department of Transportation requirements.

Northern Pizza Equipment is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, height, weight, marital status, or familial status.
