Escheatment Process Lead

Job Title: Escheatment Process Lead (O2C / Credit & Collections)

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid)

Estimated Duration: 6 Months to Direct Hire

Role Summary

Our client is seeking a subject matter expert in escheatment / unclaimed property to help assess and clear a significant backlog and design and implement a sustainable, automated process going forward. The priority is someone who has personally implemented corporate escheatment processes across multiple U.S. states. This role sits under Credit & Collections / O2C and will work closely with finance and operations teams across multiple U.S. states and global entities in a fast-paced, small-team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess Current Backlog
• Analyze the existing backlog of unclaimed property / escheatment items across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
• Assess financial exposure, volume, and risk to prioritize remediation work.
• Design & Implement Escheatment Process
• Design, implement, and document end-to-end escheatment / unclaimed property processes, including data requirements, ownership, controls, and compliance checkpoints.
• Develop state-by-state and multi-jurisdictional workflows, ensuring adherence to differing regulations and timelines.
• Partner with Finance and Legal to determine appropriate customer outreach, reconciliation, reporting, remittance, and other resolutions.
• Automation & Tooling
• Identify and implement opportunities to automate or streamline high-volume, repeatable steps such as data extraction, matching, and notifications using:
• Existing tools such as HighRadius.
• AI / bots / workflow automation where feasible.
• Partner with IT / digital teams to define requirements and implement solutions that reduce manual work and improve accuracy.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Knowledge Transfer
• Work with internal finance, credit, and legal stakeholders to reduce compliance risk.
• Take ownership of implementation, address stakeholder concerns, and escalate issues when needed.
• Produce clear documentation and training materials so internal teams can own the process going forward.
• Provide guidance on ongoing governance and monitoring of unclaimed property exposure.

Must Have Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on experience with escheatment / unclaimed property in a corporate environment.
• Direct experience designing and implementing corporate escheatment processes, including workflows, controls, documentation, and ongoing ownership.
• Proven track record working with multi-state U.S. escheatment regulations and reporting requirements.
• Background in Credit & Collections / O2C or closely related finance operations.
• Clear evidence of an automation mindset:
• Has personally automated or significantly streamlined finance / credit processes using tools, bots, or AI.
• Comfortable partnering with technical teams to specify requirements and implement solutions.
• Ability to independently drive implementation, manage competing priorities, and navigate stakeholder pushback professionally.

Nice to Have / Differentiators

• Experience within oil & gas, industrial, or capital equipment environments, preferably large, complex organizations.
• Hands-on exposure to HighRadius or similar credit & collections / treasury tools.
• Familiarity with international unclaimed property requirements.
• Experience working across global entities with centralized or shared service models.
• Prior experience standing up a new function or playbook.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex regulatory topics to nonexperts
