Scott-Woods USA is looking for EXPERIANCED SUPERLOAD escort/pilot drivers for our company escort trucks.

The right candidate will have many years of experience in escorting superloads in all areas of North America. Certification in NY, WA, UT and FL are desired.

CSE for Ontario (Canada) would be an asset.

Duties

• Safely escort superloads, oversized or heavy-haul freight, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
• Navigate complex routes using GPS navigation systems, adjusting plans as needed for road conditions or restrictions. High Pole experience is a must.
• Coordinate with dispatchers, drivers, and other team members to plan optimal routes for over-the-road (OTR) driving routes involving specialized loads such as flatbed, tanker, or hazardous materials.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections on escort vehicles to verify proper functioning of lights, signage, brakes, and load securement equipment.
• Assist with load & unload procedures when necessary, ensuring freight is secured properly according to logistics cargo handling standards.
• Communicate effectively with law enforcement or emergency responders during inspections, incidents or road closures involving dangerous goods or hazardous materials.
• Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, route progress, safety checks, and incident reports in compliance with FMCSA regulations.

Experience

• Proven experience in commercial superload escorting with a focus on safety.
• Assisting with loading and unloading, cargo load securement and advance route driving,
• Familiarity with flatbed type trailers with jeeps, steerable boosters, and other specialzed equipment is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated knowledge of hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat), dangerous goods handling, and manual handling techniques for heavy cargo.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to superload escort operations; experience driving tractor-trailers or heavy-duty trucks preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of DOT regulations related to load securement, permits, high-pole, vehicle safety standards, and hazard communication.
• Experience using GPS navigation systems, and 2 way/CB radio for long-distance routes across diverse terrains and urban environments.
• Ability to manually handle equipment associated with truck loading/unloading processes while adhering to safety protocols.
