Position Overview

The Decarbonisation Manager (Commercial) is a strategic, client-facing role dedicated to guiding asset owners and operators through the complex landscape of environmental regulations, compliance pathways, and sustainability mandates—specifically regional and international carbon taxation, emissions trading schemes, and efficiency quotas. Operating within the Commercial Services expansion, the successful candidate will provide high-value ESG advisory services and build strategic client partnerships. This position is directly responsible for driving commercial growth and generating external advisory revenue by positioning the company’s advanced digital solutions, data analytics, and sustainability expertise as premier value-added offerings.

Core Responsibilities

Asset Protection & Regulatory Compliance

·       Proactively monitor and analyze evolving environmental regulations to assess their operational impacts and commercial risks on client portfolios.

·       Serve as a corporate ambassador at premier industry conferences, regulatory forums, and stakeholder events to synthesize and cascade key legal updates to internal Technical Groups and business units.

·       Manage and audit client financial exposure, emission liabilities, and commercial billing processes tied to regional and international emissions compliance obligations.

·       Champion the commercial adoption and external onboarding of the company's proprietary ESG digital platform.

·       Collaborate closely with internal IT engineering and external tech vendors, injecting subject-matter expertise to optimize emissions tracking systems, verify data integrity, and enhance reporting precision.

Asset Competitiveness & Strategic Advisory

·       Formulate customized decarbonisation blueprints and operational efficiency benchmarks that enhance asset value, market competitiveness, and future-proof operations against upcoming climate quotas.

Transparent Account Management & Contractual Integrity

·       Advise the Commercial division on specific emissions clauses in Management Agreements, ensuring clear definition of liabilities, regulatory mandates, and financial indemnities.

·       Evaluate and optimize the workflow efficiency of the emissions compliance cell and associated technical task forces to ensure all reporting and regulatory filings are executed flawlessly within statutory windows.

Client-Centric Advisory & Partnership Growth

·       Direct consultative ESG programs that address key industry frameworks, carbon efficiency indices, and regional cap-and-trade systems.

·       Formulate multi-year compliance trajectories and strategic carbon budgeting solutions for asset owners.

·       Nurture client relationships through advanced consultative engagements, including:

·       Conducting live, high-impact digital platform demonstrations

·       Constructing complex, data-driven ESG advisory deliverables

Candidate Profile, Experience & Credentials

Professional Experience

·        A minimum of 5–8 years of progressive experience in corporate commerce, ESG advisory, corporate decarbonisation, environmental compliance, or technical operational management.

·       A proven track record of advisory delivery regarding major emissions regulations and carbon pricing mechanisms, directly supporting commercial asset owners.

·       Demonstrated success in business development, corporate sales, or client-facing consulting within the commercial services sector.

·       Prior exposure to or management of enterprise emissions reporting platforms, sustainability software, or industrial digital technologies.

·       Substantial experience operating effectively within complex, cross-functional teams in an international corporate ecosystem.

Functional & Technical Expertise

·       Sophisticated understanding of global environmental policies and technical decarbonisation technologies.

·       Deep technical knowledge of carbon tax structures, pooling mechanics, environmental intensity indexes, and associated commercial penalties.

·       Strong comprehension of asset commercial management, operational engineering principles, and OPEX/CAPEX optimization.

·       Familiarity with rigorous Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) protocols and industrial data standards.

·       Sharp business acumen, with an exceptional ability to translate abstract environmental law into actionable, revenue-generating commercial solutions for clients.

Qualifications & Soft Skills

·       Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, International Business, or an equivalent technical discipline.

·       Postgraduate qualifications or elite industry certifications (e.g., ESG Analyst, Sustainable Finance, Carbon Accounting) will be heavily favored.

·       Elite analytical prowess, paired with exemplary communication, presentation, and high-stakes negotiation skills.

·       Advanced data literacy and command of enterprise software suites (MS Office, business intelligence tools); comfort with digital ecosystems is required.
