ESL Instructor

Overview:

Teach English as a second language to members of the community. Help to make the program arrangements as needed.

Responsibilities:

The duties listed below are the primary duties of this position but are not all the required duties. • Prepare for in-person class, make sure area is ready for students.
• Teach basic reading, writing, and conversation skills (depending on class level).
• Monitor student attendance and regularly follow-up on absences.
• Prepare classwork, homework, & test for class.
• Give final examination and prepare required documents for end of the year program.
• Other duties within the scope of the role as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:

• Minimum two years of college education; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Prior experience teaching adults.
• Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills; Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Attendance and punctuality during program is mandatory.
• Must understand and support The Salvation Army’s mission as a church and a social services organization.
• Patient, compassionate, and understanding demeanor.
• Proficient in computer skills
