  The ESL Teacher and Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) Teacher supports multilingual learners in developing English proficiency and accessing grade-level instruction. The position provides language-focused instruction, collaborates with classroom teachers and families, and supports the campus LPAC process in accordance with district procedures and state requirements.

  Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver instruction that develops students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English.
  • Align language instruction with grade-level content, English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), and students' language proficiency levels.
  • Use assessment information to identify student needs, set language goals, monitor progress, and adjust instruction.
  • Provide appropriate language supports and accommodations to help multilingual learners participate in classroom instruction.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, families, and other support staff to coordinate services for multilingual learners.
  • Support LPAC meetings and procedures, including reviewing student information, documenting decisions, and maintaining required records.
  • Assist with language proficiency assessment administration and interpretation, as assigned.
  • Communicate with families about students' language development, services, progress, and available supports.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records and follow applicable district policies and state and federal requirements.
  • Participate in professional learning related to language acquisition, culturally responsive instruction, and support for multilingual learners.
