Espresso machine technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Espresso Machine Technician to join our team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing a wide range of commercial and residential espresso brewing equipment. Your expertise will ensure that coffee enthusiasts and professional baristas experience seamless operation and optimal performance from their machines. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine technical skills with customer service excellence, supporting our clients’ passion for quality coffee.

We have two possible candidate types for this position.

1. Paid Apprentice (see requirements at the end of the job description)
2. Has 2-5 years direct experience

Duties

• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with espresso machines using detailed schematics and technical manuals
• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and calibrations to ensure equipment functions at peak performance
• Install new espresso machines, including electrical wiring, plumbing connections, and mechanical assembly
• Use hand tools, power tools, and ladder access safely to disassemble, repair, or replace machine components
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams, plumbing layouts, and mechanical schematics to guide repairs
• Conduct refrigeration checks and address related issues impacting machine cooling systems
• Provide exceptional customer service by explaining repairs, offering maintenance tips, and ensuring client satisfaction during field visits
• Clearly communicate via phone and Microsoft Teams status, parts needed/installed etc for billing and team update purposes

Skills

• Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in appliance repair and installation
• Proficiency in reading schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, and ladder logic for troubleshooting complex systems
• Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, plumbing equipment, and refrigeration systems
• Knowledge of electrical work, including wiring connections and circuit troubleshooting
• Experience with maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) practices specific to commercial appliances
• Ability to operate company vehicles safely while performing field service tasks
• Excellent customer service skills with a professional approach to client interactions
• Familiarity with assembly processes for new equipment setup and calibration
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently using diagnostic techniques such as ladder logic or schematic analysis

Paid Apprentice requirements:
You must drink coffee and coffee drinks and be somewhat knowledgeable about coffee
You must have worked with tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, multimeters, etc)
You must have good problem solving skills
You must be detail oriented
You must have a good driving record and be able to drive to and from customer sites
You must be able to travel for work, potentially out of state on an airplane for training or trade shows. (Paid for by us)
You can be recently out of trade school (any trade that requires the use of tools such as in Electrical, Plumbing, or hvac)
