Estimation Engineer

About the role

This role involves cost estimation and quantity take-off for construction and fabrication projects. You will study scope of work, drawings, specifications, and RFQ/ITT documents to identify work items requiring price assessment. The position requires extracting quantities, preparing cost estimates, and developing pricing schedules while managing data from suppliers and subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Study Scope of Work, Drawings, Specifications and RFQ/ITT documents to identify work items requiring price assessment
• Extract quantities and prepare Quantity Take-off/MTO by separating according to drawings, systems, sizes or work types with verifiable reference sources
• Prepare cost estimates for labour, materials, consumables, tools, equipment, subcontractors, transportation and related expenses
• Assess Man-hours, Productivity and work duration considering work methods and constraints of Onshore/Offshore work
• Prepare quotation data from Suppliers and Subcontractors, coordinate with Procurement and compare prices against scope and specifications
• Prepare Cost Breakdown, Unit Rate Build-up and Pricing Schedule according to company and client formats for Proposal team review
• Identify missing data, unclear quantities and cost risks, and prepare Assumptions, Exclusions and Clarification requests
• Revise estimates when drawings, scope or client clarifications change, recording Revisions and verifying completeness of pricing items
• Support delivery of cost data to project team after contract award and improve price database and Productivity from actual project performance

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field
• Minimum 3 years experience in Cost Estimation or Quantity Take-off for Construction or Fabrication work
• Able to read Structural, Piping Isometric and General Arrangement drawings, Specifications and BOQ/MTO
• Able to extract work quantities such as steel structure weight, pipe length, number of welds and Diameter-inch, painting area and related material items
• Understanding of Fabrication and Installation processes including labour costs, materials, tools, NDT equipment and Testing
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel for Cost Breakdown preparation and formula verification; able to use drawing reading software such as AutoCAD or PDF Measurement Tools
• Able to read technical documents and communicate in English via email, with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Experience in Oil & Gas, Offshore or Brownfield Modification work will be given special consideration
